WVU misses its shot

Oklahoma nets crazy 59-56 win

MORGANTOWN — Despite a strong performance from quarterback Will Grier, West Virginia missed out on its chance to reach the Big 12 championship game for the first time in school history.

Grier completed 32 of 49 passes for 539 yards and four touchdowns in a wild 59-56 loss to Oklahoma Friday night.

Gary Jennings Jr. had nine catches for 225 yards and two scores for the Mountaineers (8-3).

Oklahoma (11-1) used the stellar play of its own quarterback to secure the win. Kyler Murray threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns while also running for 114 yards.

The Sooners’ Kennedy Brooks rushed for 181 yards and a score.

Oklahoma will play Texas in the Big 12 title game.
