Conno tax collector loses lawsuit against county, school district

The Connoquenessing Township tax collector has lost his lawsuit against the county and Butler School District.

Butler County Judge S. Michael Yeager, who presided over Thomas Pawlowicz's one-day, non-jury trial last month, ruled in favor of the county and school district.

Yeager, in a four-page written decision, decided Pawlowicz's compensation was not changed unfairly in 2005.

Pawlowicz of Eagle Mill Road had claimed he was shortchanged when the county condensed tax cards for property owner Hope Martin from 416 tax bills to nine tax bills.

County officials testified the change was made to correct an historical error in the way Martin, under the name Moraine Valley Farms, is billed.

Pawlowicz said he was "blindsided"by the change which cut his compensation by about $2,700 a year.
