Grove City girls defeat McLane
Abby Fulkerson dropped 20 points, including 10 in the final quarter, to lead Grove City to a 53-47 girls basketball win over General McLane on Thursday.
Hannah Santom added 15 points for the Eagles (4-3).
Pine-Richland 66, Mars 47 — The Planets fell behind early and trailed 38-21 at the half.
Lauren Wasylson scored 17 points for Mars (5-2) while Tai Johnson had 13 and Bella Pelaia 12.
The Rams received a game-high 31 points from Amanda Kalin.
West Allegheny 55, Seneca Valley 46 — The Raiders (2-3) were led by Gretchen Koken and Erin Danik, who both scored 15 points.
Deer Lakes 44, Knoch 38 — Kayla Grafton scored 13 points as the Knights rallied to force overtime, but came up short.
Anna Solomon scored all seven of the Lancers’ points in overtime and finished with 12 to lead Deer Lakes.
Knoch was down five heading into the fourth quarter in a closely contested game.
Boys Basketball
Freeport manhandled Apollo-Ridge, outscoring the Vikings 52-12 in the first half of a 69-30 non-section victory.
Kevin Lynch scored 15 points for the Yellowjackets (3-3), with Evan Schaffhauser and Damon Shiring both adding 10.
Ridgway 62, Moniteau 42 — Jake Jewart scored 11 points and tallied five assists and Lake Pry added 11 points for the Warriors (2-4).
Summit Academy 64, Springdale 60 — The Knights (1-5, 1-1) earned their first win of the season in this Section 1-AA meeting.
Tyree Thomas paced the victory with 18 points and Coby Jaggon scored 17.
Summit led by two points with two seconds left when Kyree Gholston drained a pair of free throws to ice the game.
Hockey
Case Haberstroh, Connor Hoffman and Robbie Reichenbaugh each netted two goals in Freeport’s 7-4 victory against Serra Catholic at Belmont Ice Complex.
Cameron Speakman scored once and Alex Colflesh contributed three assists for Freeport (5-6).
Canon-McMillan 5, Seneca Valley 0 — The Raiders dropped to 7-5-1 with this loss at Baierl Ice Complex.

Butler 798-52x, Mt. Lebanon 794-44x — Shooting 100 for Butler were Luke Montag, Cameron Tack, Matt Corlew, Gabe Slagle, Brendan Lefevre and Tiffany Carlson.
Private Schools
Alexis Barnhart tallied 19 points and 18 rebounds in the First Baptist Christian girls basketball team’s 41-23 victory over Seeds of Faith.
Michaella Roth added 16 points, eight assists and eight steals. Nicole Hartman brought down nine rebounds.
