Butler Area High School graduation goes from single ceremony to three days
Graduation day for seniors at Butler Area High School has been changed from June 5 to being conducted over the course of three ceremonies in July.
Superintendent Brian White explained the changes during Monday's school board meeting. Members of the senior class will be broken down into groups that will enable students, families and school faculty to practice safe, social distancing.
Students and their families will come to the high school in their assigned groups on June 3, 4 and 5. Parents will present the diplomas to their children.
White said an official ceremony will be held July 15.
The prom will be held the same week as the ceremony. It will be held at Butler County Community College or a "parking lot prom" will be held at the high school if it can't be held at BC3, White said.
This is a breaking news story. For more information on Butler's graduation and prom, make sure to pick up Wednesday's Butler Eagle or subscribe online.
