Police charge Mars man with DUI

Timothy Snyder

A Mars man has been charged with his fourth DUI in the past 10 years.

Adams Township Police charged Timothy J. Snyder, 36, with felony DUI along with other related traffic violations after a traffic stop late Tuesday.

Court documents show Snyder was arrested Wednesday and taken to Butler County Prison, where as of noon Thursday he remained in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Police said that around 11 p.m. they saw a GMC pickup cross the yellow center line on the Beaver Street Extension.

“Once turned around and traveling behind this vehicle, I observed sharp jerking movements in and out of its lane of travel, both onto the shoulder and into the oncoming travel lane,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.

The documents said that, shortly afterward, police stopped the truck on Adams Ridge Boulevard near its intersection with Brookshire Drive.

Police said Snyder was the only person in the vehicle, smelled of alcohol and looked drunk.

According to documents, Snyder's performance during field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired. Police said he refused a breath test.

Police said they searched the vehicle and found an empty bottle and cup that appeared to have held alcohol.

Snyder's preliminary hearing is May 18 before District Judge David Kovach.
