A Butler man was sentenced to the county Intermediate Punishment Program Wednesday, after being charged with selling heroin to a woman who later overdosed but was revived.

Austin G. Harmon, 22, was sentenced to 30 months in the program, with the first 4 months spent on Restrictive Intermediate Punishment in Butler County Prison, by Butler County President Judge Thomas Doerr. That will be followed by 6 months house arrest with electronic monitoring, with the remaining balance served on probation.

He was also given time-served credit for an inpatient drug rehabilitation stay and 26 days spent in jail.

Harmon pleaded guilty Feb. 28 to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance — heroin.

He was initially also charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after an incident on Aug. 21. That charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement,

State police said the investigation began when they were called to a home in Connoquenessing Township where 20-year-old Tiffany Marie Kroll had reportedly suffered a heroin-related overdose, and required emergency medical treatment. She was then revived, police said.

Police said it was found that Kroll had bought three stamp bags of heroin for $40 from Harmon at Fairview and Apple avenues in Butler.
