A Pittsburgh man was sentenced to state prison Wednesday, after being charged with felony drug counts.

Darnell L. Glenn Jr., 31, was sentenced to 2 to 5 years in a state correctional facility by Butler County President Judge Thomas Doerr.

Glenn pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance — heroin, and firearms not to be carried without a license stemming from a traffic stop on Virginia Avenue on Aug. 1.

Police said Glenn was initially stopped for driving a car with a broken taillight. During that stop, it was found that a passenger in the vehicle was wanted on a warrant for car theft, and was then found with numerous syringes and other drug contraband.

Police also noticed a pill bottle in the driver's door containing suspected marijuana, and Glenn admitted it was marijuana, according to court documents, but refused to let police search the vehicle. The vehicle was then seized and Glenn was allowed to get a ride home.

A search warrant was later granted and inside the trunk was found a backpack that contained 301 glassine bags of suspected heroin and a 9 mm pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition. The pack also held a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.

The next day, Glenn called the barracks, asking if he could come and get his vehicle. He then appeared at the barracks to claim the vehicle and was arrested. Police said as a felon, Glenn is prohibited from having any firearms.

Also charged was a woman who arrived at the barracks with Glenn, who would have driven the borrowed vehicle away after Glenn picked up his vehicle. Police said that woman was found to be hiding three syringes, two spoons and a crack pipe in her waistband.
