ALLEGHENY TWP — Two teenagers this morning escaped a northern Butler County juvenile detention facility.

State police said the 15-year-old boys — one from Charleroi, Washington County, and the other from Uniontown, Fayette County — about 1 a.m. forced their way out of the Western PA Child Care on Route 38 in Allegheny Township.

“They kicked open a door facing south and fled,” said Cpl. Tim Morando.

Police were notified and troopers searched for the boys, who are both white, but to no avail. Police issued a be-one-the-lookout advisory to other departments.

Mid Atlantic Youth Services owns the secured facility that houses males and females from ages 16 to 21 who have been placed there following court disposition of their juvenile cases.

One of the escapees was being housed on a charge of aggravated assault, police said, and the other was there on a charge of receiving stolen property.

A telephone message left with one of the executive officers was not immediately returned.
