POLICE REPORTS
5:37 p.m. Tuesday — No one was injured in a two-vehicle collision on New Caste Road. The wreck occurred near the Butler Crossing shopping plaza when a vehicle driven by Jimmy Benninghoff, 67, of Allison Park, Allegheny County, turned into the path of the other vehicle while attempting to leave the plaza.
The other driver, Eric Heitzer, 46, of Butler, could not avoid the collision, which caused his vehicle to tip onto two wheels. It spun and landed in the middle of the center turn lane.
Police said Benninghoff faces tickets for making an improper left turn, improperly entering a road, driving on the wrong side of the road and careless driving.
9:47 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Ruth A. Nebel, 81, of Chicora struck another vehicle at Benbrook Road and Greenwood Drive. Neither Nebel nor Terri Spence, 46, of Slippery Rock, the other driver, was injured.
Police cited Nebel for a stop sign violation.
9:01 a.m. Oct. 1 — A vehicle driven by Rachel H. Steiner, 18, of Sarver struck a sport utility vehicle at Dinnerbell and Knoch roads in Jefferson Township. Adrianna M. Ewing, 41, of Saxonburg was the other driver.No injures were reported. Police cited Steiner for a stop sign violation.8:25 p.m. Sept. 30 — A motor home driven by Kenneth L. Peck, 49, of Homer City, Indiana County, struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. No one was injured, but the vehicle had to be towed.2:15 a.m. Sept. 22 — A pickup truck driven by Daniel B. Newton, 25, of Portersville struck an unattended pickup on I-79 just north of East Lancaster Road in Lancaster Township. Police cited Newton for hit-and-run, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.9:33 p.m. Aug. 28 — Dakota J. Wolfe, 25, of Butler lost control of his motorcycle and struck landscaping rocks in a hit-and-run wreck on East Crossbow Lane in Slippery Rock Township. He was not injured, but his bike had to be towed.Police cited Wolfe for several traffic violations, including hit-and-run, abandoning a vehicle on a road, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, driving an unregistered vehicle, failing to keep right and driving too fast for conditions.
Wednesday — Ronald J. Schwartz, 33, of Templeton was arrested on charges he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl and exposed himself to an 8-year-old girl. The alleged incidents occurred between January 2013 and earlier this month.Schwartz was arraigned on felony charges of involuntary deviate sexually intercourse, aggravated indecent assault of a person under 13 years old, two counts of child endangerment and five counts of corruption of minors.He also was arraigned on four misdemeanor counts each of indecent assault and indecent exposure and a summary charge of harassment. He was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $50,000 bail following arraignment.
