Drug task force charges Petrolia man after search

The Butler County Drug Task Force charged a Petrolia man Tuesday after a search of his home last week allegedly yielded a stash of marijuana and cash.

Richard W. Freiters Jr., 28, is charged with felony possession with intent to sell and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He is free on $30,000 unsecured bond.

According to charging documents, county detectives searched Freiters' home and found three jars and one plastic bag of marijuana, THC wax, scales and other drug paraphernalia and about $2,330 in cash.

Detectives said there were about 435 grams of marijuana, which would be about 15 ounces of marijuana, and about 133 grams of THC wax.

“A notebook recovered in Freiters' bedroom contained an email address for Freiters, a list of accounts and payments due, and an owe sheet showing at least 16 people and an amount of money owed by them,” detectives said. “This owe sheet also contained Freiters' email address.”

Detectives also seized a combination of 17 rifles and shotguns and three handguns during the search, but there were no charges filed related to them.

Freiters is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing June 1 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
