3 charged after authorities allegedly find drugs, urine
Suspected cocaine, prescription medication and an illegal bottle of urine were recently found by Butler County Prison officers.
Authorities said the alleged evidence landed three men in trouble with the law. One of the defendants, Jeremy R. Miller, 26, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County, is facing a felony charge.
Miller and the other suspects — Robert L. Dillaman, 43, of Butler; and Austin R. Coburn, 22, of Connoquenessing Township — were arraigned Friday on charges. All three face preliminary hearings Jan. 27 before District Judge William Fullerton.
Detective Tim Fennell, head of the Butler County Drug Task Force, said a prison officer found a powdery substance Jan. 10 in a cell Miller and Dillaman were sharing.
Miller admitted the substance contained in a Ziploc bag was Xanax and belonged to him, according to charging documents. Xanax is the brand name for alprazolam, commonly prescribed to treat anxiety.Fennell said Miller further acknowledged using the drug before he was jailed, which is why he ended up behind bars for a probation violation. He claimed he did not remember having the bag with Xanax on him when he was booked into the prison.Miller is charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance by an inmate.Dillaman was also placed in the prison Jan. 10 for a probation violation. Fennell said prison officers found him with a metal container that had suspected cocaine in it during a search. He is charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.Dillaman was not charged with a felony, like Miller, because he had not been formally booked into the prison and was still going through the intake process, according to Fennell.
Coburn, meanwhile, was taken to the prison Jan. 15 after allegedly failing a drug test at the adult probation office in Butler. Upon being searched by a correctional officer, documents said, a small bottle of urine fell out of his pants. The defendant allegedly had the “clean” urine to beat the drug test, Fennell said, but he apparently did not have the opportunity to use it when he was tested. He also wasn't able to get rid of it before he got to the prison. He is charged with attempting to furnish drug-free urine, a misdemeanor. All three defendants remain in the prison.
