SV softball wins with 5-run 7th

Nikki Matz hit a two-run single to score Alyssa Panza and Cassie Bachik with the tying and winning runs to cap a seventh-inning rally for Seneca Valley in a 10-9 win over North Hills Thursday afternoon.

The Raiders (10-2, 8-2) trailed 9-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Matz also had a double, Panza a double, two singles and three RBI and Bachik a RBI double for Seneca Valley, which has already locked up a WPIAL playoff spot.

Girls Lacrosse

Tianna Wikert, Kayla Smith and Ally Riley each scored two goals, but Knoch fell to Hampton 12-8.

Emily Zilka and Savanna Steffen also scored for the Knights.

Mars 17, Butler 11 — Shannon Doyle scored five goals to help the Planets sink the Golden Tornado in a Division II-Section 3 match at Butler.

Butler (9-6, 6-4) can still clinch a WPIAL playoff spot with a win over Knoch Monday.

Bella Alampi (four goals), Tori Kopcak (four) and Kelly O'Connell (two) also scored for Mars.

Megan Crawford led Butler with five goals, while Reanna Everton scored three and Olivia Kappler added two.
