BUTLER — A bomb threat was made just before noon on Friday at the Butler Intermediate High School.

Butler School District Superintendent Brian White said about 1,500 students in grades seven, eight and nine were walked next door to the auditorium at the Butler Senior High School as soon as the threat was discovered.

The students were not evacuated outside to the IHS property because of dark clouds overhead at the time.

The IHS students who had not eaten lunch when the evacuation occurred were fed at the senior high school, White said.

White could give no details on the threat because of the continuing investigation, which he said was being conducted by police with the help of administrators.

Bomb-sniffing dogs arrived shortly after the threat to sweep the building.

The IHS students were not sent home early because that would impact the senior high bus schedule.

White seemed irritated by the disruption in the school day on Friday.

“It's not productive for education when students are not in class,” White said.
