LATROBE — Knoch graduate Celia Knappenberger was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Softball Championship Most Oustanding Performer Friday as she pitched Saint Vincent College to the league’s tournament title.
A freshman, Knappenberger went 3-1 in the tournament with one save and a 0.93 earned run average. She pitched three innings for the save in a 7-4 tourney title game win over Thiel.
She pitched shutouts of 7-0 over Thiel and 4-0 over Westminster in elimination games earlier in the tourney.
[naviga:h3]SRU tennis joins PSAC tourney final[/naviga:h3]
BLOOMSBURG — The Slippery Rock University women’s tennis team defeated Bloomsburg, 4-0, Friday in the PSAC semifinals.
The Rock (16-7) will face Mercyhurst for the championship Saturday. Lauren Fadden and Allie Welch both won a doubles and singles match Friday to spark SRU.
Prior to the match, The Rock’s Viola Lugmayr was named the PSAC Champion Scholar as she had the highest grade point average among players in the conference tournament. Lugmayr carries a 4.0 as an exercise science major.
