Pyle picked to chair gaming committee
State Rep. Jeff Pyle, R-60th, has been picked to chair the House Gaming Oversight Committee, his office announced Monday.
To accept the added responsibilities of a committee chairman, Pyle has stepped down from his posts on the appropriations and judiciary committees. He will remain on the House Energy and Environmental Resources panel.
The Gaming Oversight Committee is one of 27 standing house committees and is responsible for overseeing the state’s gaming industry, including the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Gaming was expanded in Pennsylvania in 2017 after the governor signed Act 42, which authorized Internet gaming, fantasy sports, video gaming terminals at truck stops, airport gaming tablets and the auctioning of 10 new mini-casino licenses.
The 60th District includes Winfield and Buffalo townships in southeastern Butler County, plus parts of Armstrong and Indiana counties.
