27 BC3 athletes gain honors
BUTLER TWP — Twenty-seven Butler County Community College student-athletes have been named to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference’s all-academic team for the spring 2020 semester, including five players on a women’s basketball squad that won its fourth WPCC crown in five years.
To be eligible for WPCC all-academic teams in the spring and fall semesters, student-athletes must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours. Those with grade-point averages between 3.0 and 3.49 attain honors, and those with GPAs from 3.5 to 4.0, high honors.
Alexis Barnhart, Nicole Hartman, Casey Kretzer, Michaella Roth and Skye Wessel played on BC3’s women’s basketball squad that defended its 2019 WPCC title by beating Westmoreland CCC in the 2020 championship.
Each received high honors on the WPCC’s all-academic team for the spring. Barnhart attended Butler High; Hartman, First Baptist; Kretzer, Knoch; Roth, Slippery Rock; and Wessel, Seneca Valley.
Men’s basketball players on BC3’s roster who received high honors on the WPCC’s all-academic team for the spring 2020 semester were Noah McLean from Moniteau and Andrew Yonker from Butler. Receiving honors were Cole McCarthy, Seneca Valley; Julian Sanks, Knoch; and Dominic Schmidt, Butler.
Baseball players on BC3’s roster who received high honors were Grant Clawson and Shane McIntire, Butler; and Jacob Jewart, Moniteau. Receiving honors were Nicolas Kibbie and Trevor Gahagan, Butler; Jared Lominski, Moniteau; Travis Mowery, Knoch; and Noah Smithbauer, Slippery Rock.
Softball players on BC3’s roster who received high honors were Abigail Black, Knoch; Amber Izzo, Mohawk; Jamie Roberts, Allderdice; and Kelsie Terwilliger, A-C Valley. Kretzer and Wessel were also on BC3’s softball team’s roster and received high honors. Receiving honors were Alliya Allwine, Shenango; and Abigail Kopac, Knoch.
Golfers on BC3’s roster receiving honors were Caleb Brake, Mars; Jocelyn Dias, Armstrong; and Beau Rusnak, Knoch.
