2:15 a.m. April 6 — Alex P. Bauer, 22, of Summit Township was allegedly caught with suspected marijuana after police received a call for a man and woman arguing at a home on Greenview Drive. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
2:44 p.m. April 5 — Police said they turned up two crack pipes in the purse of Heather A. Kuhrt, 34, of Center Township after they found her sleeping in a car at Memorial Park. She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
April 5 — Police obtained a felony arrest warrant for Laurie R. Crawford, 37, of Butler in connection with a March shoplifting incident at a downtown store.
Crawford is accused of stealing three energy drinks and a container of coffee from the Dollar General Store on North Main Street around 2:20 p.m. March 21. The merchandise is valued at $16.36.
The crime was captured on surveillance video, according to court documents. Police subsequently posted images of the suspect on their Facebook page. Tips from that posting helped police identify Crawford.
Since she has three prior shoplifting convictions, she is charged with a felony count of retail theft.
6:10 p.m. April 4 — Harry V. Bogan, 58, of Butler was caught with two suspected crack pipes following a traffic stop in the area of Penn and Franklin streets. Police said they pulled him over during a surveillance detail of possible drug activity on the 500 block of West New Castle Street.
Bogan is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle with an altered inspection sticker, and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.
[naviga:h3]Butler Township Police[/naviga:h3]
4:47 p.m. Wednesday — Gregory Macklin, 62, of Butler was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle in a two-vehicle accident at the Butler Crossing plaza. He was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with leg and shoulder injuries.
The crash occurred when a vehicle driven by Sandeep Singh, 28, of California stopped while attempting to made a left turn from the parking area near the Kohls’ store. Singh stopped when he saw Macklin approaching from the west on his motorcycle.
Macklin applied his brakes and lost control of the bike, which fell to the ground.
Police said the accident remains under investigation.
[naviga:h3]Butler County Sheriff’s Office[/naviga:h3]
April 1 — Richard A. Gray, 32, of Slippery Rock allegedly submitted a concealed carry license application that included answers about his criminal record that were not truthful and were rejected by the Pennsylvania Instant Check System, which is run by the state police.
Gray is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Wednesday — Police reported they are investigating a burglary last month at an 88-year-old man’s home on New Castle Road in Slippery Rock Township.
An unspecified amount of silver coins were taken in the break-in, which occurred March 26. No other information was provided in the investigation.
4:58 p.m. Tuesday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Zachery E. Burkhart, 20, of Evans City and John A. Wyllie, 52, of Grove City collided at Route 8 and Kiester Road in Slippery Rock Township.
No one was injured, but both vehicles had to be towed. Police cited Burkhart for improperly entering or crossing a road.
3:48 p.m. Tuesday — No one was injured when a commercial vehicle driven by Timothy A. Wright, 30, of Wytheville, Va., struck a pickup truck and a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. Russ F. Ryland, 42, of Mercer was driving the pickup.
Both vehicles were traveling north, police said. The pickup had to be towed. The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene.
11:10 a.m. Tuesday — Lynn D. McCown, 38, of Volant, Lawrence County, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence on Sunset Drive in Center Township. McCown is charged with DUI.
