Camper overturns on I-79
No injuries were reported when a camper tipped over on Interstate 79 Saturday afternoon. Traffic was directed around the accident in Worth Township. Wind might have played a factor.
Driver blames windy conditions in accident
WORTH TWP — No one was injured when a camper tipped over on Interstate 79 Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred at 3:16 p.m. when the driver, Diana Hickman, 58, lost control of the white Chevy Silverado, which was traveling south in the right lane less than two miles north of Exit 99.
Hickman reported windy conditions.
“I felt the wind take a hold of the camper,” she said.
It struck a guardrail, causing it to turn on its side.
She and her husband, James Hickman, were returning to their home in Derry, Westmoreland County, after a trip to Erie.
Neither complained of injuries.
No other vehicles were involved. Traffic was kept to one southbound lane as it was directed around the accident by Portersville Volunteer Fire Department.
