Butler Little Theatre will reprise last year's production of “It's a Wonderful Life — A Live Radio Play” for three performances.
The cast of Jerry Johnston, Stephanie Kobil, Stefan Lingenfelter, Phillip Ball and Katy Closkey Wayne return to play George Bailey and the characters of Bedford Falls.
Inspired by the classic American film, this rendition of “It's a Wonderful Life” is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. The actors play dozens of characters and produce the sound effects.
Curtain is at 8:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the theater at One Howard St.

Tickets will be sold at the box office one hour before curtain time and by telephone during the Friday and Saturday shows until 9 p.m.
The Butler County Symphony will host its 35th annual Young Artist Competition from 2 to 5 p.m. Jan. 19 at Swope Hall at Slippery Rock University.Students will audition for judges, with one student being chosen to perform as a soloist with the Butler symphony orchestra.Application deadline is Jan. 6.The winner will receive $200 and will perform with the Butler orchestra for the March 8 concert.The competition is open to any high school-aged musician in grades 9 to 12 who lives within a 25-mile radius of Butler, or any high school age musician in a PMEA District 5 school.Download an application and rules for the competition by visiting www.butlersymphony.org. EMLENTON — For the 20th year, an HO scale railroad will be on display from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Feb. 1 at Donaldson Motors, 714 River Ave.The HO scale railroad covers an area that is more than 28 feet by 16 feet.Lionel trains and Thomas the Tank Engine are also on display.There is no charge. PITTSBURGH — Carnegie Science Center breaks out its sloppiest, gooiest activities for MessFest 2014 for New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.MessFest features hands-on activities available only one day a year. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can experiment with oobleck, a gooey substance that feels solid when picked up, but then slips through the fingers like a liquid.In the egg drop activity, visitors engineer a case for raw eggs that will protect their “egg-stronauts” as they are dropped from a height to the pavement below.Youngsters can get messy with finger painting and making sidewalk chalk out of plaster of Paris and tempera paint.Along with the activity tables, visitors can experience the center’s “Plant Pop Extreme” in the Kitchen Theater and the “Messy Minute Challenge” in the Works Theater.Call 412-237-3400 for information.
