Despite harsh air quality from the Canadian wildfires, racing at Lernerville Speedway got underway for the first time in three weeks and regular champion A.J. Flick put together another impressive performance for his second win at the track this season.

The veteran driver started Friday’s Fab4 Racing Peoples Sprints main event from the pole position and went on to win, beating John Jerich and Danny Kuriger, who finished second and third, respectively.

Flick, who now has a five-point lead over Kuriger in the track standings, last won at Lernerville on April 24.

In the Late Models feature, Saxonburg’s Alex Ferree came away with the win after also starting from the pole position and extended his track points lead to 35. Jared Miley finished second and Sarver’s Ken Schaltenbrand third after nearly half the field was knocked out of the race. It’s Ferree’s first win at the track since April 24, and he leads Schlatenbrand in the standings.

Garrett Krummert climbed from fifth to the top spot at the checkered flag to win the Modifieds feature for the fourth time this season, with brad Rapp and Ayden Cipriano taking the next two spots. Krummert is within one point of Rex King Jr. (sixth on Friday).

Corey McPherson won the Pro Stocks race, passing second- and third-place finishers Logan and Cody Koteles to after starting the race in fourth. It’s McPherson’s second win at the track this season. Brett Hutira (fourth on Friday) leads the standings by 11 points.

Racing returns to the Action Track on Tuesday with the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.
