Butler PoliceTuesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher L. Barnes, 40, on charges he assaulted his girlfriend, Valentina Tapia, during a domestic assault at their home in the 100 block of South Main Street.Tapia said Barnes grabbed her by the neck during the alleged attack. He also took her cell phone and smacked her on the knuckles with it, court documents said. She suffered minor injuries.Barnes is charged with simple assault.5:30 a.m. Saturday — Carl Kirkpatrick Jr., 45, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted Sarah Barkley during a domestic dispute at her home in the 300 block of North Bluff Street.Barkley told police that the defendant, her daughter’s father, broke into her home while she slept and attacked her, according to court documents. He is accused of grabbing her by the hair and dragging her into the bathroom.During the alleged assault, documents said, he choked her, burned her on the left wrist with a lit cigarette and threatened to kill both himself and Barkley.Kirkpatrick was arraigned on felony charges of burglary and trespass and misdemeanor charges of simple assault and terroristic threats. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail following arraignment.
Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Jason R. Warynovich, 35, of Butler was charged with depositing used motor oil into a storm sewer at the Walmart parking lot at Butler Commons. Police cited him for criminal mischief.Saturday — Police charged Cassandra N. Sperrazzo, 23, of Butler in connection with a two-vehicle crash at 1:40 p.m. Sept. 6 on New Castle Road. Police said her vehicle struck the back of another vehicle near Cochran Subaru.David Stalker was the other driver. The wreck injured Sperrazzo’s passenger, 52-year-old Heidi Seidl of Butler. Police cited Sperrazzo for driving at an unsafe speed.Thursday — James Alexander Wilson, 61, of Lyndora was charged with a false return scheme July 30 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. Police said he allegedly shoplifted several items and later returned the merchandise for store gift cards.Wilson is charged with theft by deception.Sept. 6 — Police charged Scott M. Carr, 33, of Butler with drugged driving in connection with a one-vehicle wreck about 8:25 p.m. Aug. 20 on Mercer Road. He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and careless driving.11:08 p.m. Sept. 1 — Kimberly Sue Rape, 36, of Butler was caught with suspected drug contraband following a traffic stop on Hansen Avenue. She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without headlights.Sept. 1 — John L. Marchyshyn Jr., 51, of Butler was charged with drunken and drugged driving stemming from a two-car crash about 7 p.m. July 31 at South Duffy and Whitestown roads.In addition to driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, Marchyshyn is charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, failing to stop at a red light and careless driving.Sept. 1 — Michael D. Guy, 33, of Butler was charged with shoplifting $322.24 in merchandise March 29 from the Lowe’s store at Moraine Pointe Plaza, and then having Jessicka Ann West return the items for a store gift card.Guy is charged with a felony count of retail theft and a misdemeanor count of conspiracy to commit theft by deception.Police previously charged West, 29, of Butler with theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to commit the crimes of theft by deception, receiving stolen property and retail theft.Sept. 1 — Erin C. Torres, 27, of Sharpsville, Allegheny County, was charged with driving under the influence of a combination of a controlled substances and driving without a license at the Wendy’s restaurant drive-through on New Castle Road.Sept. 1 — Police charged Eric J. Easley, 21, of Bruin in connection with the fraudulent use of another person’s debit card Oct. 21 at the Sheetz convenience store on Center Avenue. Easley is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.Sept. 1 — Don D. Graham, 46, of Butler was charged with shoplifting $264.88 in merchandise Aug. 13 from the Walmart at Butler Commons. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.
State Police, ButlerMonday — Police reported they cited three Moniteau High School students — a boy and two girls — with sending sexually explicit images while at the school in Cherry Township between June 15 and Aug. 30.Police did not identify the suspects, a 15-year-old boy from Eau Claire, a 14-year-old girl from Karns City and a 15-year-old girl from Parker.11:30 p.m. Thursday — Marc T. Ciotti, 35, of Slippery Rock lost control of his sport utility vehicle and struck a tree along Saniga Road just west of Coaltown Road in Cherry Township. He was not hurt but his SUV had to be towed.Police said they cited Ciotti for disregarding traffic lanes and driving with an expired vehicle inspection.8:02 p.m. Aug. 30 — Hunter W. Carr, 18, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. He and his passenger, Brandon M. Ruffuinti, 18, of Seven Fields, also faces charges of possession of marijuana.
State Police, New Castle4:32 a.m. Monday — A downed tree damaged the vehicles of three unsuspecting motorists in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.The drivers — two New Castle men in cars and an Ohio man in a tractor-trailer — were traveling east on Route 422 when their vehicles struck the tree that was across the road just east of Old Butler Road.None of the drivers were hurt but all vehicles had to be towed. The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
