Homes for the Holidays

The Old Stone House will be part of the Butler County Symphony Association's Holiday Tour of Homes. The self-guided tour will feature six sites Nov. 17.

The Butler County Symphony Association’s 23rd Annual Holiday Tour of Homes is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17.

This self-guided tour is a major fundraising event for the Symphony Association.

The Butler area sites included are:

Jim and Joy Mulkern home at 1258 Evans City Road, Evans City

Ken and Sue Leader home at 251 Ridge Road, Zelienople.

David Hill and Cynthia McKnight home at 152 Haverford Drive, Butler

The Mainstay at Saxonburg (James Stanek and Brian Oxendale), 214 Main St., Saxonburg

Applebutter Inn, 666 Centreville Pike, Slippery Rock

The Old Stone House, 2865 William Flynn Highway, Slippery Rock.

A cookie reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1529 N. Main St. Ext.

A luncheon benefiting Hill Youth Chorale will be available at the same location from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost for the luncheon is $5.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the tour. They will be available Nov. 1 at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St.; May’s Music Shoppe, 247 E. Jefferson St.; Meridian Gift Shop, 298 Meridian Road; and Flynn’s Tire Center, 236 N. Main St.

The symphony’s next concert will feature jazz guitarist Joe Negri and his trio at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

Negri has performed with artists such as Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Eartha Kitt, Johnny Costa, Yo-Yo Ma and Wynton, Branford and Ellis Marsalis.

New for this concert, the new musical director and conductor Matthew Kraemer will give a pre-concert lecture from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on the music that will be played.

Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door. Student tickets are $5.
