Editors note; “Man accused of burglary at business in Cranberry,” (April 23), William L. Belsterling was misidentified. His name was incorrect in a criminal complaint that Cranberry Township police filed, charging him with burglary, trespass, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. A man is accused of breaking into the Cranberry Township chiropractic office belonging to his estranged business partner.Cranberry Township police said William L. Belsterling, 62, of Cranberry Township, later admitted he unlawfully entered Chiropractic Associates of Cranberry about 4 a.m. Friday.Nothing was taken from the office on the 9000 block of Marshall Road. Police said the incident follows an ongoing dispute between Belsterling and business owner Michael Renk. The defendant was arrested and arraigned Friday on felony charges of burglary and trespass, and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.Police said they were initially called about 8:45 a.m. after Renk reported someone entered his business and then broke off the door handles and locks to get into two secured areas. The owner told officers he suspected Belsterling. He advised their business relationship had grown “increasingly volatile,” according to charging documents.Police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino noted Tuesday that while Belsterling co-owns the building with Renk, he has no other connection with the business.Police report they were called back to the business later that same day around 3:15 p.m. for a reported disturbance between the defendant and owner. When officers arrived, they found Belsterling, who allegedly became disorderly with police and was arrested. While being taken to the station, according to documents, Belsterling made a “spontaneous utterance,” which police took to be a confession. He acknowledged entering the business and “smashed off” the inside door handles to the two secured areas.Belsterling is free on his own recognizance with the condition he has no contact with the victim. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26. Online court records did not list an attorney for him and he could not be reached for comment.
