In Brief
[naviga:h3]Trail work day scheduled Saturday[/naviga:h3]
The Butler-Freeport Community Trail is announcing its first work day on the trail since the cancellation of work events resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
Volunteers are needed to help spruce up the trail from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Those looking to help can meet at the Keasey Road Trailhead in Winfield Township.
Chris Ziegler, president of the trail association, said if possible, volunteers should bring rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and hoes. Those who cannot bring tools are still encouraged to attend as many tasks are lined up for the much-needed workday.
Among those tasks are installing new gates and removing and replacing old concrete.

[naviga:h3]SV Foundation donor helps family[/naviga:h3]
The Seneca Valley Foundation was recently made aware of a family affected by the coronavirus pandemic that is in need of financial assistance for rent.
In response, an anonymous donor paid three months’ rent for this family.
“This is exactly why we started the foundation,” said Tracy Vitale, district superintendent and the foundation’s executive director. “I am proud of how our families have stepped up to help each other as we all work to get through this challenging time.”
Through the generosity of many, the foundation has been able to provide vulnerable families with gift cards, food deliveries and school supplies during the pandemic.
More information about the foundation’s efforts can be found at www.svsd.net/SVFoundation.
