Eight Butler County area basketball teams will participate in the PIAA Tournament, which begins this weekend.

The Mars and Grove City boys teams play Friday night. The other six teams are in action Saturday.

AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Seneca Valley graduate Dan Barna, a senior on the Ohio Northern University baseball team, homered in the Polar Bears’ season-opening 8-4 win Sunday over Nebraska Wesleyan.

Barma’s blast was one of three home runs hit by his team in the contest.
