Traffic stop nets drugs

Adams Township police said an alleged drugged driver was found with suspected cocaine, marijuana and prescription medication after a Saturday night traffic stop on Route 228.

Cory J. Harris, 22, of Pittsburgh was arrested and later placed in Butler County Prison.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton on Sunday arraigned Harris on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

He also is charged with driving without a license and two other traffic violations. He is in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond.

Stoughton imposed several bail conditions, including that the defendant can be released only to county supervision. He also must wear a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring bracelet, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Police said a patrol officer pulled over Harris about 11:15 p.m. for having a faulty rear lighting system. He allegedly admitted to the officer that he had marijuana in his car.

A tub with suspected marijuana was seized. Police also found other contraband in the car including a cellophane baggie with suspected cocaine and a cellophane wrapper with two full pills and two partial pills of a prescription medication.
