South Butler substitute pay raised slightly
While the daily pay for substitute teachers who work in the South Butler County School District was increased by $5 since the last school board meeting, more decisions will come in September.
The board on Wednesday voted to approve a daily pay rate of $100 for teachers filling in for absent full-timers.
Board member George Zacherl at last week's meeting lamented the proposed rate of $95 per day, saying the amount is too low for the college-educated workers.
Superintendent David Foley increased the rate to $100 for last night's voting meeting, and $120 for retired South Butler teachers who serve as subs.
Foley said the Freeport Area, Butler Area and Seneca Valley school districts pay their subs $100 per day.
