4:53 p.m. Saturday — Zachery T. Shields, 20, was arrested after he allegedly punched his mother in the back of the head during a domestic dispute at their home on South Street. She suffered pain and swelling, police said.The defendant also is accused of damaging a car owned by his mother's husband, by hitting it with a piece of wood.District Judge Bill O'Donnelll arraigned Shields on charges of simple assault and criminal mischief. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bond following arraignment.July 27 — Heather M. Franklin, 37, of Butler was charged with drugged driving and having suspected heroin stemming from a minor crash earlier in the month at Race and South Chestnut streets. Police said she was driving a rental box truck that struck a car. The other driver and her passenger, a child, were not injured. Franklin also was not hurt.A search of the defendant, according to court documents, turned up 20 stamp bags of suspected heroin in her pants pocket. In the center console of the truck, police said, were three empty stamp bags.Franklin was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, documents said, that showed she had morphine, fentanyl and prescription medication in her system.She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.July 27 — Police charged Robert R. Saul Jr., 33, with having marijuana stemming from a May call for loud music coming from a car at his home on Mitchell Avenue. Officers found him at about 9:50 p.m. May 25 in a car that was running in front of his home.A subsequent search, according to court documents, found a bag of 5.6 grams of marijuana. Police said they also found a marijuana pie in the car. Saul is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Thursday — Russell A. Enlow, 38, of Lyndora was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a rollover wreck July 5 on High Street. In addition to DUI, Enlow is charged with driving with a suspended license, failing to keep right and careless driving.8:16 a.m. Aug. 3 — Patience A. Budmark, 19, of Lyndora was allegedly found with marijuana and other contraband after police were called for a reported domestic dispute on Chesapeake Street in Lyndora. She is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug contraband.

July 27 — Mason D. Cook, 19, of Butler Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop earlier in the month in Butler. Police said he was stopped at about 2:25 p.m. July 2 at Mercer and Penn Streets.Cook was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a drug test that showed he had amphetamine and marijuana in his system, according to court documents.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, texting while driving, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to keep right and careless driving.8:19 p.m. July 22 — Adam J. Pistorius, 22, of Chicora was allegedly caught with marijuana and other drug contraband following a traffic stop on Catalpa road near Route 68 in Donegal Township. Pistorius is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, texting while driving, failing to keep right and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

11:10 a.m. Saturday — A man and woman from Beaver County were injured when the motorcycle they were driving crashed in Springfield Township. The driver, Mark E. Beegle, 52, of Beaver Falls, laid down the bike on Route 19 after he crested the top of a hill and over applied the front brakes due to traffic in front of him.The cycle skidded off the road and struck a traffic sign. Beegle and his passenger, Lauri M. Paxton, 55, of Beaver Falls, both fell off the cycle during the crash. They both suffered minor injuries. Both were wearing helmets. Beegle was treated at Grove City Medical Center.Police cited Beegle for following too closely to another vehicle.

11:30 a.m. Tuesday — An unknown suspect driving a maroon or burgundy Chevrolet threw a piece of cinder block at an 11-year-old Slippery Rock boy mowing the grass at a home on Studebaker Road in Scott Township. Police said the cinder block narrowly missed the boy, who was not injured. The vehicle fled south on Studebaker Road. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-598-2211.Sunday — Police reported that an unknown identity thief access a 39-year-old Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, woman’ bank account and made purchases May 22 at two stores in Boardman, Ohio.
