Butler Police
11:59 p.m. Friday — Jeffrey L. Kyles-Edge, 37, was arrested after allegedly attacking his wife, Tara Kyles-Edge, during a domestic dispute at the couple’s apartment in the 200 block of Franklin Street.
The alleged victim told police the defendant hit her from behind while she was holding their 4-month-old son. Tara Kyles-Edge suffered minor injuries.
Jeffrey Kyles-Edge was arraigned on charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.
4 p.m. Thursday — Christopher J. Podobnik, 35, was arrested on charges he struck his wife, Shannon Podobnik, during a domestic dispute at their home in the 400 block of Spruce Street. She suffered a chipped front tooth in the altercation.
Christopher J. Podobnik was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.
June 10 — Brandon W. Duffy, 22, of Butler allegedly stole his grandmother’s purse from her home in the 200 block of Maple Avenue. The purse contained 90 OxyContin pills, according to court documents, along with $300, credit cards and other personal items.
Duffy is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft.
June 6 — Police charged a Fenelton man with shoplifting male enhancement pills from the Rite Aid store on South Main Street last month.
The suspect, Stephen J. Willetts, 40, allegedly took a box containing the pills into the store restroom, where he removed the bottle of pills from the packaging, according to court documents.
When confronted by police, he pulled the bottle of pills from the front of his pants. The item is valued at $30. Willetts, who has one prior shoplifting conviction, is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.
Butler Twp. Police
Tuesday — Police charged Jose Rivera, 50, of Butler in connection with a hit-and-run crash last month in the 700 block of Mercer Road.
Rivera did not stop after his vehicle struck several mailboxes. A nearby surveillance camera captured the wreck on video. The suspect’s vehicle was later found in Butler.
Rivera is charged with hit-and-run, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.
6:28 a.m. Monday — One person was hurt when a pickup truck driven by Zack Clark, 20, of Butler rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light on South Benbrook Road at Route 68. Taylor Slusher, 20, of Renfrew, the other driver, suffered minor injuries.
Police said Clark was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
State Police, Butler
8:50 p.m. Tuesday — Alexis Krause, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car struck a guardrail on Delwood Road in Butler Township. Krause, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.
5:20 p.m. Monday — A motorist threw an unknown object at a Hilliards man’s passing vehicle on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said they have no suspects.
State Police, Kittanning
10:29 p.m. Tuesday — A 38-year-old Butler woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28/66 at Anderson Creek Road in Rayburn Township.
3:48 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Cody J. Lee, 21, of Sarver rear-ended another car on Route 28 south on-ramp at exit 16 in Harrison Township, Allegheny County. Police said Lee was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.
The other driver, Glenn F. Baker, 72, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights with minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.
State Police, Mercer
Monday — An unknown thief stole a Cub Cadet commercial grade lawn mower, equipped with a 60-inch deck and a 27-horsepower Koehler engine, from Lamb & Webster Inc., on Route 173 at Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. The property was taken from the equipment store between Thursday and Monday.
12:48 a.m. Sunday — A truck tractor driven by Jorge P. Castanheira, 51, of Ontario, Canada, crashed into a guardrail and traveled down an embankment, rolling onto its passenger side and hitting a tree along Interstate 79 in Jackson Township, Mercer County.
