Oct. 13 — Charges of making a false written statement in the sale or transfer of a firearm and statement under penalty were filed against Ashley Morgan McNeil, 37, of Butler, for allegedly claiming she is not an unlawful user of controlled substances on a U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives form she filled out to buy a gun at Sportsman's Supply in Summit Township on Sept. 15. Police said her history includes misdemeanor and drug law convictions.Oct. 11 — The unknown driver of a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was driving north on Route 268 in Parker Township, struck a utility pole along the southbound lane, left the disabled truck at the scene and fled at 3:47 a.m. The Chicora and Bruin volunteer fire departments also responded. Police ask anyone with information about the crash to call 724-284-8100.Aug. 19 — An unemployment compensation fraud case is under investigation. The victims are Justin Macurak of Bruin and Macurak HVAC LLC of Bruin.

Oct. 12 — Peter Crawford Jr., 41, of Butler, was charged with simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, and Clayton Snow, 18, of Butler, was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct following an alleged assault on Bessemer Avenue on Sept. 18 at 12:28 a.m.Oct. 12 — Robert James Draper, 44, of Lyndora, was charged with retail theft for allegedly taking 10 items valued at $199.60 from Walmart on Dec. 15.

Oct. 13 — Jeffery A. Crisswell, 37, of Lyndora, was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness after he allegedly kicked police officers who took him into custody following a report of a man walking in and out of traffic on North Main Street. Police said he was found in possession of a glass marijuana smoking pipe.
