GROVE CITY — Knoch graduate Abby Jones, a junior on the Westminster College women’s swim team, won ther 200-yard breaststroke and 200 individual medley in the Titans’ 152-148 loss at Grove City Thursday.
The loss was the Titans’ (4-3, 3-1) first in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference this season.
[naviga:h3]Butler grad Nebel top AMCC athlete[/naviga:h3]
Butler graduate Nicole Nebel, a freshman on the Mount Aloysius College bowling team, has been named an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Athlete of the Week.
Nebel shined in the Red Flash Invitational, averaging 200 for three games in helping her team secure the top seed heading into Sunday’s final rounds.
She helped the Mounties place second in the tournament by setting a school record with a Baker game average of 23.8 for 29 frames. She marked in 27 of those frames.
Nebel had a high game of 235 in the tournament.
[naviga:h3]SRU picked 3rd in PSAC baseball poll[/naviga:h3]
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University baseball team has been picked to finish third in the PSAC West this spring in the preseason coaches poll.
The Rock returns 19 players from its 30-win season of a year ago, including Freshman of the Year Abraham Mow. Coach Jeff Messer needs six wins to become the 18th Division II coach to reach 1,000 victories.
Seton Hill is picked to win the PSAC West, followed by Mercyhurst. Millersville is picked to win the PSAC East, followed by West Chester.
