Rose Cognito

Rose Cognito, 87, of Butler, formerly of Irwin, died Sunday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Born June 26, 1917, in Braddock, Allegheny County, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Angelina Mattachone Peticca.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Antonette) Mirenzi of North Versailles and Angela Reiss, with whom she made her home; a son, Lawrence Cognito of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Basil (Edith) Yocca of Palm Beach, Fla., and a brother, Benjamin Peticca of Pittsburgh, also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Cognito, who died Nov. 13, 1971; a sister, and three brothers.

COGNITO - Friends of Rose Cognito, who died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Center Avenue, with the Rev. James Dolan officiating. Burial will be at Braddock Catholic Cemetery.A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
