These items were collected from various police departments:

1:40 a.m. July 5 — Police arrested and charged Colby E. Nicholas, 35, of Butler, with a first-offense DUI, stemming from a traffic stop on Pittsburgh Road in Penn Township.Police said they stopped the vehicle for multiple violations, including crossing lines on the road. Police said field sobriety tests showed Nicholas was impaired, and a preliminary breath test showed the presence of alcohol.Police said Nicholas was rude to the hospital staff and, after initially agreeing to have his blood tested, changed his mind. His blood was not tested.

July 7 — Kimberly M. Gray, 44, of Saxonburg, was charged with a first-offense DUI, stemming from a welfare check at her home on Pine Drive in Saxonburg.Police said they were checking on Gray for a different matter, when they watched her drive up to her home. Police said Gray was uncooperative and smelled of alcohol.Police said field sobriety tests showed she was impaired, and a later breath test showed her blood-alcohol content at 0.207%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.

7:31 p.m. July 7 — Police arrested and charged Donald L. Burk, 51, of Petrolia, with a first-offense DUI, related to a call about a disturbance at the Butler Fairgrounds in Franklin Township.Police said they found Burk outside his vehicle. They said he was not cooperative. Police said a check of Burk's information showed he should have had an ignition interlock device on his vehicle, which he did not.Police said a later breath test showed Burk's blood-alcohol content was 0.173%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.July 7 — Brandon McFadden, 21, of Pittsburgh, was charged with misdemeanor strangulation and simple assault, as well as summary harassment, related to a July 6 altercation on Kaibab Trail in Slippery Rock Township.Police said McFadden strangled another man, who provided a written statement of the attack. Police said the man who was attacked had visible injuries to his face and right arm, and damaged glasses.

July 7 — Two people were charged with possession of a controlled substance following a May 21 traffic stop spurred by an arrest warrant. The driver, Nicole L. Buzzelli, had been stopped because she had an active warrant for her arrest on a disorderly conduct charge. Daniel E. Link, 39, of Butler, was in the passenger seat. Police said Link had a glass pipe. Police said they then found six stamp bags of heroin in the vehicle.
