A Butler County assistant district attorney was suspended Friday and is facing an administrative hearing Tuesday.

District Attorney Richard Goldinger confirmed Monday that he suspended Assistant District Attorney Richard Bosco. Goldinger said Bosco is suspended pending the outcome of a Human Resources administrative hearing Tuesday. That hearing will address the issues regarding the suspension and possible outcome, Goldinger said.

He declined to discuss the reasoning behind the suspension, but did say “it was a decision I thought I needed to make at the time.”

The suspension adds “somewhat” of a strain to the office, Goldinger said, as another assistant district attorney, Laura Pitchford, is out of the office on maternity leave.

Bosco's caseload has been divided among the remaining ADAs in the office “just making sure everything is covered,” Goldinger said. “This is a team effort. Everyone is pulling together, and we'll be OK.”

That includes the prosecution of Joshua K. Greaves, 35, who is charged with homicide and robbery-related counts in the death of Gregory W. Bosko, 55, of Kittanning. Police allege Greaves slashed Bosko's throat in March during a drug deal in Lyndora. Richard Bosco was leading the prosecution of that case.

Goldinger said Bosco has worked in the district attorney's office since 2009.

Bosco had previously been suspended and placed on unpaid leave for several days following an altercation with a fellow attorney in their office on Jan. 19, 2017.

Goldinger declined to comment at the time of that incident as well.

Bosco could not be reached for comment.
