Crews with the Harmony EMS and Harmony Fire District respond to a rollover accident Monday on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township. The driver was taken to a hospital.

LANCASTER TWP — First responders handled two separate accidents at the same location Monday, one of which saw a vehicle roll over into an embankment.

The rollover was reported just before 3 p.m. Monday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 79 south of East Lancaster Road. A single vehicle appeared to have lost control and overturned, coming to a rest upright on the right side embankment.

Crews from the Harmony Fire District and Harmony EMS responded to the scene along with state police.

The driver was transported to an undisclosed hospital for unknown injuries, according to Harmony Assistant Fire Chief Justin Hart.

While working at the scene, a second, two-vehicle accident involving an SUV and pickup truck occurred. The truck appeared to sustain rear-end damage, while the SUV was damaged on the driver's side.

Hart said it was likely the SUV driver wasn't paying attention to slowed traffic in front of her, but no one was injured in the crash.

Traffic was slowed and reduced to one lane as crews worked to clear the scenes.

A third accident with a vehicle rolling onto its side also occurred near the same spot on I-79 at about 9 a.m. The driver was uninjured at the scene, officials said.

Hart said there was no definitive cause for the two rolled vehicle accidents.

“Roads are just a little bit damp, and people are driving fast,” he said.
