12:02 a.m. Sunday — Jamel A. Barnes, 31, of Hilliards, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a former girlfriend at an apartment on the 200 block of East Brady Street.The victim told police that she went to the apartment to discuss child custody arrangements with Barnes, according to court documents, and at some point, he pushed her to the floor and dragged her down the steps.Police said the woman suffered facial injuries and her shirt was ripped in the altercation.Barnes was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and he was later placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $3,000 bond.
6 p.m. Thursday — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 at Avon Drive. The wreck occurred when a sport utility vehicle driven by Jeffrey Kniess, 44, of Butler, rear-ended another SUV driven by Steven Myers, 51, of Renfrew, who was stopped while attempting to make a turn.Both drivers complained of minor pain but refused medical treatment at the scene. Kniess's SUV had to be towed.
Monday — Police said they are investigating a case of a lost or missing handgun that was shipped via the U.S. Postal Service to Sportsman's Supply Co. on Route 356 in Summit Township. Police took the report Oct. 27. The Taurus G2C pistol apparently was lost in transit, according to a police report.The gun is valued at $322. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.2:08 p.m. Saturday — Kevin J. Myers, 28, of Butler, was injured when the sport utility vehicle he was driving rear-ended another SUV on Route 68 near Bennett Court in Connoquenessing Township. He suffered a suspected minor injury. Michelle A, Froilan, 40, of Butler, the other driver, apparently was not injured.Myers' vehicle had to be towed. Police cited him for following too closely to another vehicle and careless driving.2:52 a.m. Saturday — David B. Robertson, 46, of Evans City, lost control of his car and sideswiped a utility pole before hitting a tree along Route 528 just south of Textor Hill Road in Forward Township. According to a police report, Robertson, who suffered an apparent minor injury, fled the scene.7:03 p.m. Friday — An unidentified vehicle, believed to be a dark colored Ford Focus, struck a garbage can on the side of the 100 block of Main Street in West Sunbury. The driver of the vehicle, which was traveling south, did not stop.11:01 a.m. Friday — Benjamin P. Sinz, 26, of Chicora, was injured when he lost control of his SUV and rolled into an embankment, landing on its roof on Timbur Road, south of Pontius School Lane in Donegal Township. Sinz, who suffered an apparent minor injury, was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.6:24 a.m. Dec. 30 — A car driven by Jeffrey R.. Ayers, 47, of Sligo, Clarion County, struck a deer on Route 268 just south of Anton Landing Drive in Hovey Township, Armstrong County. Ayers was not injured, but his car had to be towed.Dec. 24 — Chad M. Undercuffler, 28, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possessing marijuana in connection with a November traffic stop in Butler. Police said he was pulled over shortly after 1:20 a.m. Nov. 27 in the area of North Washington and West Fulton streets.When police got to Undercuffler's car, according to court documents, they saw a glass jar containing what appeared to be marijuana in the back seat area. Police searched him and allegedly found him with a glass smoking device. Troopers recovered the jar of suspected marijuana as well as a plastic bag with suspected THC gummies from the car.Undercuffler admitted he had consumed marijuana, documents said, and showed impairment during standard field sobriety and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement testing.In addition to drugged driving, Undercuffler is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and four traffic violations.Dec. 22 — Jesse J. Eaton, 26, of Butler, was charged with driving on drugs and possessing heroin stemming from a November traffic stop in Butler. Police said they noticed his pickup in the area of East Jefferson Street and followed the vehicle until he stopped outside his home on Franklin Street.A subsequent search of the truck found eight stamp bags and five empty bags of suspected heroin, according to court documents. Police took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Toxicology reports showed Eaton had several drugs in his system, including amphetamine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and prescription medication, documents said. He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license — DUI related — and driving a vehicle with unsafe equipment.
