BUTLER TWP — The Butler Township Commissioners recognized five elementary school students Monday who won the township's annual fire poster contest.

The theme for the contest was “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety,” so the posters, made by Butler Area School District students from kindergarten to fourth grade, displayed art highlighting different alarm sounds and how people should respond to them.

The winners were kindergartner Gabrielle Cosgrove of Connoquenessing Elementary, first grader Phoebe Leech of McQuistion Elementary, second grader Collins Kramer of Connoquenessing Elementary, third grader Arianna Leech of McQuistion Elementary and fourth grader Paige Singer of McQuistion Elementary.
