Odor prompts office building evacuation
An electrical smell caused the evacuation of a downtown Butler office building Monday morning, authorities said.
There turned out to be no fire at the Quality Life Services building on the 600 block of North Main Street, according to the Butler Fire Department, but the source of the odor around 7:45 a.m. was believed to be electrical.
The smell coming from the third floor prompted activation of a fire alarm, fire officials said. More than 30 employees were evacuated.
Firefighters inspected the building, and an electrician was later notified. Employees returned to the building between 30 minutes and an hour later.
