Motorcyclist hurt in accident

MUDDY CREEK TWP — A man riding a motorcycle was flown to a hospital Friday morning after the bike struck the rear end of a tractor trailer near mile marker 79 on Interstate 79 South just south of the Route 422 interchange.

The man was alone on the bike and was wearing a helmet, which might have saved his life, firefighters said. The truck driver was not injured.

The accident occurred at 8:25 a.m. in the right lane. The left lane was open, but traffic was backed up to the Route 422 exit.

The bike left a skid mark leading to the rear of the truck.

State police investigated the accident. The Portersville Volunteer Fire Department and EMS responded to the accident.
