South Butler school board approves teacher contract proposal
The South Butler School Board voted 7-2 Wednesday night to approve the agreement released by a non-binding arbitration panel brought in to settle the district's long-running contract dispute with its teachers.
If the agreement is approved by the teachers, it will become the teacher's contract and end the four-year stalemate between the board and its faculty.
Terms mentioned by district solicitor Tom Breth include an eight-year retroactive contract that lasts until the 2020-21 school year and $10 increases to employee healthcare contributions beginning in the next school year. The dissenting school board members were Becky Boyd and George Zacherl. Zacherl's wife is a teacher in the district.
