A Cranberry Township woman was sentenced to probation in Butler County Court, after being charged with sexually abusing two minors over the course of four years.

Yvonne A. Kumpfmiller, 55, was sentenced to 24 months of probation by President Judge Thomas Doerr. She also was ordered to pay court costs and $500 in fines.

Kumpfmiller previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor corruption of minors on Feb. 6.

Cranberry Township police initially charged Kumpfmiller with felony corruption of minors and three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault for incidents occurring between March 26, 2012, and Nov. 30, 2016.

The felony charge was later changed to a misdemeanor, to which she pleaded. The remaining charges were dismissed as part of the plea.

Assistant District Attorney Terri Schultz asked for a long period of supervision based on the victim impact statement from one of the children and the facts of the case.

Kumpfmiller's attorney, Eric Fischer, asked for a short period of probation as “my client has never been in trouble before” and said she intends to continue with drug and alcohol treatment.

The investigation came about after a report from ChildLine — the state's child abuse hot line — regarding sexual abuse of an 18-year-old. Police said the first victim reported that Kumpfmiller had been assaulting him since 2012, with the first incident occurring March 26, 2012, at the Residence Inn on Freedom Road in Cranberry.

Kumpfmiller was described as an alcoholic who would often consume between eight and 12 cans of beer each night, according to the affidavit.

During that incident, an intoxicated Kumpfmiller approached the victim, who was 14 at the time, and touched his genitals while asking to lay next to him, police said. After moving to a home in Cranberry in August 2012, Kumpfmiller intermittently continued identical assaults on the victim, police said.

The last assault was in November 2016, after the victim had turned 18.

A second victim also reported Kumpfmiller routinely tried to get in bed with them on five separate occasions between 2013 and 2015, according to the affidavit. The second victim also reported Kumpfmiller was intoxicated during each instance and she was rebuffed each time, police said.

Kumpfmiller said during the proceeding Thursday that “this past year has been incredibly difficult” and “my family and I are looking forward to regaining a relationship.”
