Brady Twp. to use some federal COVID funds on new building

Brady Township supervisors voted Wednesday to use federal COVID-19 relief funds received by the township to continue construction on a new township building.

Ken Hertzog, chairman of the Brady Township supervisors, said during the virtual meeting that he and the other supervisors are not certain how much federal money the township is getting, but the consensus by all supervisors is to put some of it toward the new building.

Hertzog said the township has been working on building a new municipal center for about five years, and the supervisors have been allocating money, as it becomes available, to complete construction steps.

“It's probably been going on for five years,” Hertzog said. “As we can pay for things, we get things to be done. Now we're doing the inside, like getting a cement floor. We're looking to get in there by the fall voting season.”

According to Hertzog, the current township building was completed in the early 1960s, and the township is in need of an upgrade.

“We're going to come out of the 1960s and get at least to the 2000s,” Hertzog said.
