Crash on Route 422 sends 1 to hospital

The driver of an SUV was injured Wednesday after his vehicle struck a disabled Jeep Grand Cherokee on the side of Route 422 eastbound near the Mercer Road overpass.

A crash on Route 422 eastbound sent one person to the hospital Wednesday evening.

Around 7 p.m., Butler County 911 dispatchers sent Butler city and township emergency units to a vehicle accident on Route 422 eastbound near the Mercer Road overpass.

According to Butler Township firefighters, one person driving a dark-colored Toyota SUV struck a disabled, dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, which had been sitting on the side of the road.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, and no one was in the disabled Jeep at the time of the crash.Butler Township Police were investigating the crash.Firefighters blocked traffic on Route 422 eastbound for about 30 to 45 minutes while the scene was cleared. The road was open before 8 p.m.

The Toyota struck Jeep, which was disabled on the side of the road way. The person driving the Toyota was taken to the hospital.
