Butler PoliceWednesday — Sasha L. Cartwright, 29, of Franklin Township was charged with stealing a cell phone last week from an apartment on West Jefferson Street.The alleged victim told police that Cartwright, whom she knows, on March 23 showed up at her home and asked to use her cell phone. She agreed but after the suspect left, the owner noticed her phone, valued at $250, was missing, according to court documents.Cartwright is charged with theft.

Butler Twp Police2:58 p.m. Saturday — Vehicles driven by Michael Carnathen, 23, of Clarion, Pa., and Aurea E. Bonilla Ramos, 57, of Butler collided in the 300 block of New Castle Road.

Middlesex Twp Police11:56 a.m. March 17 — Mason D. Hodgkiss, 25, of Chicora was allegedly caught with suspected cocaine and marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 8 near Browns Hill Road.Police said they pulled over Hodgkiss for having a burned out brake light. The officer smelled the “strong odor of fresh, burnt marijuana” while speaking to the suspect, according to court documents.When he was asked about the smell, police said, Hodgkiss took off his hat and handed the officer a marijuana roach he had in the hat. He also turned over a small amount of both marijuana and cocaine that he had in his jeans pocket.During a pat-down search, police said they found the suspect with a cut off straw commonly used to snort cocaine.Hodgkiss is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and a brake light violation.

State Police, ButlerTuesday — A Bruin couple was charged in connection with a drugged driving investigation last month in Bruin.After getting a report for an erratic driver in a sport utility vehicle on Route 268 on Feb. 4, police followed the vehicle, court documents said, and found George C. Early, 47, getting out of the driver’s side and Marina S. Zellonis, 46, getting out of the passenger side of the SUV at their home on Water Street Extension.A trooper said he smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the vehicle and Early, who appeared impaired.“Early informed (police) he had just done some heroin recently,” documents said.He was subsequently arrested and taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed he had benzoylecgonine, which is a metabolite of cocaine, and fentanyl, which is a synthetic opioid, in his system.A search of Zellonis’ purse, police said, turned up 23 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, spoons with suspected drug residue, a syringe, crack pipe and other contraband.Early is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, careless driving, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.Zellonis is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.11:42 p.m. Monday — Felicia A. Saunders, 54, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted a 50-year-old man during a domestic dispute at her home on Smith Road in Clearfield Township.The victim, Louis Galan, told police that Saunders ripped his shirt slapped him and scratched his chest, according to court documents. Galan, police said, had red marks on his chest and near his left collarbone.Saunders, who smelled of alcohol, appeared to be intoxicated, according to documents. She was later arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.

State Police, New Castle10:30 a.m. Thursday — A Butler County woman was among several people hurt in a two-vehicle wreck at Route 488 and Pleasant Hill Road in Perry Township, Lawrence County.The crash happened, according to a police report, when a car driven by Mary Ann Johnson, 62, of Harmony turned onto Route 488 and collided with another vehicle.Johnson, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Ellwood City Hospital with minor injuries.The other driver, who was not identified in the report, was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. An unspecified number of passengers in the other vehicle were taken by ambulance to AGH.Police said Johnson faces a ticket for a stop sign violation.
