Cranberry Twp. rent highest in region
CRANBERRY TWP — The township has the highest rent in the Pittsburgh region, according to a recently released report.
However, residents have also seen their rent decrease the most compared to other areas.
The report data, compiled by RENTCafé.com, was put together based on actual rents charged in apartments in 260 U.S. cities. It indicates the average rent in Cranberry Township was $1,285 in August, making it the highest in the region. It is still below the nationwide average of $1,472, according to the report.
Overall, rent in the township decreased by $9 month-over-month, also leading the region. It is one of the only areas to have seen a decrease, the report indicates.
Pittsburgh had the second highest rent, as prices reached $1,248 in August. Rent has risen in the city by $32 since August 2018, the report indicates.
Greensburg has the lowest rent in the area at $745, while Allison Park is listed as $1,019. Bethel Park has an average rent of $1,054.
The largest year-over-year rent increase came in Whitehall, where the $1,190 per month figure includes an increase of $42.
