Kelsey Powell tallied two goals, and Molly Weitzel, Mallory Ralston and Morgan Siebka had one apiece as the Slippery Rock girls soccer team posted a 5-0 victory over Mercer Wednesday.

With the win, the Rockets clinched the region championship with a 9-0-1 record, 14-2-2 overall.

Goalie Ali Doyle made three saves for the Rockets, who receive a first-round District 10 playoff bye.

The Knoch girls volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over Apollo-Ridge in a preliminary round WPIAL Class AA playoff match Tuesday night.The Knights won the match 20-25, 25-23, 25-8, 25-14. Tori Lark paced the team with 11 kills.Julia Kleinfelder added eight kills and 11 service points, Taylor Smith nine service points, Hali Gill had 11 service points and eight kills, and Jessica Gross had 11 service points and 33 assists.Knoch travels to South Fayette at 7:30 p.m. today for further playoff action.
