Nothing was going to get past Tyler Little.

The Slippery Rock High goalkeeper stopped three consecutive shots in a shootout to help the Rockets stun Harbor Creek in the District 10 Class AA boys soccer title game at Edinboro University Saturday night.

The two teams played to a 1-1 tie in regulation and two overtime periods before the Rockets emerged with a 3-1 win in the shootout.

Little came up, well, big.

"Tyler was unbelievable," said Slippery Rock coach Anthony Buzard.

Little was playing hurt after suffering an injury when Harbor Creek's Alex Tischenko scored the only goal for the Huskies in the first half.

Little, though, was able to return to the match.

"I was really worried," Buzard said. "But he's a tough kid."

Dan Jeon scored on a penalty kick with just 58 seconds remaining in the first half, then both defenses clamped down.

"Our defense played really great," Buzard said. "It was so hard because Harbor Creek had a lot of great corner kicks and they are so fast. But we kept working and battling."

Ryan Hyatt, Devan Hribal and Ethan Bryan scored in the shootout for Slippery Rock. Carter Tyzinski scored on the first shot in the shootout for the Huskies, but Little turned away the next three shooters, including Tischenko on the final shot to clinch the win.

It is the first district championship for Slippery Rock and the first time a non-Erie County team has won the Class AA title.

Only three other teams outside of Erie County have won a boys or girls district title in the other classifications.

"I think it's a matter of teams catching up to the teams in Erie County," Buzard said. "It does feel great to take the championship out of Erie. They've had it forever."

Slippery Rock (18-2-1) will take on West Allegheny in the first round of the PIAA Class AA playoffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Edinboro University.

The district championship can only help the Rockets heading into the state playoffs, Buzard said.

"It definitely gives us a lot of momentum," Buzard said. "But we are playing the No. 3 team from the WPIAL, and they are pretty good. We have to put Saturday night behind us and play our best."
