Nothing was settled the first time around, but Knoch and Burrell will get another shot at each other.

The Knights and Bucs will face off in the first round of the WPIAL Class AA boys soccer playoffs at 6 p.m. Monday at Pine-Richland.

Their earlier meeting ended in a scoreless tie Oct. 9.

Burrell (12-3-3) placed first in its section for the fourth time in five years, while Knoch (12-4-1) was second in Section 2 behind Hampton.

"Burrell has a nice team with good offensive weapons, but we're pleased to be getting a second chance at them," said Knoch coach Doug Wood.

The Knights had twice as many scoring chances as Burrell in the first meeting.

"We need to play sound defense and create more scoring opportunities on offense," said Bucs coach Alex Roberts.

Burrell has scored 33 goals, led by senior midfielder Eric Sokol's 10 tallies.

Bucs goalkeeper Brandon Daughtry is a three-year starter.

"He's played well, but our defense has done a good job of not allowing many shots on goal," said Roberts.

Knights goalie Andy Fritz is a first-year starter, but he's not playing like it. The sophomore hasn't allowed a goal in six of the last eight games.

"The more experience he gets, the better he gets," said Wood.

The Knights bring a balanced attack into the postseason.

Junior forward Klaus Ondrizek leads the team with 18 goals and has added seven assists.

Junior midfielder Kory Wood (10 goals, seven assists) and senior forward Trevor Gordon (10 goals, five assists) both have scored in double figures.

"We have different players who can score," said Coach Wood. "That's what makes us a good team."
