Multiple fire companies called to unoccupied house
EMLENTON, VENANGO COUNTY — Emlenton firefighters had just returned to their station from a minor laundry room fire when they were called back out Thursday afternoon for a house fire on Kerr Avenue.
The house was unoccupied, according to neighboring homeowner and borough ordinance officer Kelly Morrison.
When crews arrived, they found a “heavy volume of fire” consuming the house from the back and “crews began their fire attack,” according to Emlenton Fire Chief Trevor Hile.
“There's a shortage of firefighters during the weekdays, so we had to call for help from all the neighboring counties,” Hile said.Within an hour, the multicounty firefighter response had extinguished the flames and began identifying any hot spots that could reignite the home.Hile said the cause of the fire was unknown and that a state police fire marshal would make a determination after an investigation.
