Dandoy wins 1 of 2 seats on Butler City Council

Walter re-elected to a second term

Democratic candidate Bob Dandoy won a four-year term on Butler City Council, and Republican Councilman Michael Walter won a second term, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's General Election.

With all six wards reporting, Dandoy led the field with 1,194 votes followed by Walter with 934 and Republican challenger Travis Uhl with 899, according to unofficial results.

“I'm pleased. I'm happy. I'm looking forward to getting to work. I'm looking forward to working with everybody to get things done for the city,” Dandoy said. “It shows people are wanting somebody who will get in there and work for them and that's what I'm going to do.”

Over the course of the campaign, he said he learned that many residents believe the city is a great place and are willing to work with him to make it better.

“It's very heartening that those people are out there,” Dandoy said.

Dandoy is a retired teacher and former member and president of Butler Downtown,

He was a teacher at Karns City High School for 31 years, a part-time instructor at Butler County Community College for 20 years and a faculty member at Slippery Rock University for seven years in the English department and College of Education.

Walter serves as director of accounts and finance for city council.

Uhl is a veteran and business owner.

A Moniteau High School graduate, Uhl served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Iraq in 2003.

He is the owner and operator of J&J Technical Electric Contracting in Butler.

In January, when newly elected officials begin their terms, Dandoy will replace Fred Reese who was appointed in September to replace Corey Roche who resigned in August.

Reese, a former council member who currently chairs the redevelopment authority board of directors, did not run in the election.
